Dementia care

Care for people living with dementia

Our care team are experienced in supporting people with dementia and related conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Who we support

Every person is different

Our approach is flexible, and it always starts with the needs of the individual.

  • Dementia and related conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease
  • A physical disability
  • A sensory impairment, hearing or vision
  • Incontinence
  • Communication, speech and language difficulties

We take time to understand each person, including the decisions they made earlier in their life.

How care is planned

A plan written for the individual

We always consult with you and, where appropriate, your representatives about care and treatment.

Getting to know the person

A member of the care team takes time to understand each person as an individual, taking into account decisions they made earlier in their life.

A plan for their needs

A specific care plan is written for the person’s needs, so that the team can support them in a way that is comfortable, with as few restrictions as possible and room for independence.

Working with others

We work in partnership with the local Mental Health Team, GPs and other health professionals, and review care and treatment regularly.

Highbarrow is a residential care home, with support from local district nurses and GPs. When someone needs nursing or medical input, we work alongside them and other professionals.

The setting

Gardens, grounds and a view to look at

Highbarrow sits in quiet farmland on the edge of Uttoxeter. There are gardens and grounds around the home, and lounges that look out over the countryside.
